Instructions for
accessing your email via the Internet
You must access your
email account using Microsoft Internet Explorer
5 or higher.
Netscape Navigator or any other browser may not work correctly.
-
This site has been tested to work using Internet Explorer
5 or higher. If you aren't using IE5+ then you must upgrade first. If you are connecting using AOL, minimize AOL and open a
separate instance of Internet Explorer and type wmitulsa.com/exchange
into the address bar.
-
After you click the
ENTER link
you may receive a warning that the Security Certificate was
issued by a company that you have not chosen to trust. You may also be
asked to install it into the Root Store. Click YES on any
messages .
-
Next, you should see a login window pop up. Use your normal WMI login and password. Keep in mind the
password is case sensitive so check that your Caps Lock light is off.
These usernames and passwords are just examples:
User Name: yourusername
Password: yourpassword
You no longer need to type your full email address in the User Name
field.
-
After logging in
successfully, you should see a web page with "Folders" and "Shortcuts"
buttons on the left and a row of icons across the top. I recommend
selecting the "Folders" view.
NOTE: On slow dial-up connections the page may take a long time to load.
This is normal.
-
If you have mail you
will see it listed just below the row of icons. Double click messages to
read them.
-
To send a message:
-
Click the New
icon. A new message window will appear.
-
In the To field
type the address of the person you are emailing. (Don’t worry about
the CC and BCC fields. CC is Carbon Copy and BCC is Blind Carbon Copy.
If you want an explanation of those feel free to contact me.)
-
In the Subject
field type a brief subject for your message. It’s like the title of a
newspaper article.
-
In the large field
below type in your message.
-
Click the Send
button to send your message.
